Rumer Takes It “Slow” With Chilled Out First Release From Debut Album “Seasons Of My Soul”

Over the last few months it doesn’t seem a day has passed where the Queeried inbox hasn’t found itself home to an email about a musician who is most definitely, certainly and undoubtedly the next big thing in the music world. Now this would tend to indicate that at least some of them are lying, however one musician that we’d happily lay down a bet on becoming a whole lot better known is Rumer.

Based in London and as talented a pianist as she is a vocalist, the first time we heard Rumer’s “Slow” in the Queeried office we thought we were listening to Karen Carpenter due to not only the smoothness of Rumer’s voice, but also because “Slow” brings with it that same unmistakable sadness that often tended to weave itself through many of The Carpenters ballads.  However before we start you all thinking all Rumer’s music is going to make you want to find a box of tissues and a pillow to hug, it’s not, as the far more upbeat “Am I Forgiven” proves with it’s much more bubbly and summery sound.

Already a firm favourite on the BBC Radio 2 playlist, Rumer isn’t likely to suddenly become the artist of choice for all you house, DnB and dance music addicts,  but if you’re more into your chilled out tunes, then you’re definitely going to want to be checking out her debut album “Seasons of My Soul” which is released on Atlantic Records later this month with the first single “Slow” released on 23rd August.

And if you can’t wait that long to sample Rumer’s music there’s some good news for you – Rumer is offering you a free download of “Long Long Day” on her MySpace page.
