Moscow Mayor Proves He’s As Much Of A Homophobe As Ever By Banning Gay Pride… Again

Moscow’s mayor, Yuri M Luzhkov, has shown that 2010 has made him no less of a homophobe than the last three years after again saying that he will not allow a 2010 gay pride event to be held in the city.

Stating that “we haven’t permitted such a parade and we won’t permit it in the future.” Luzhkov, according to The New York Times went on to say “It’s high time that we stop propagating nonsense discussions about human rights, and bring to bear on them the full force and justice of the law.”

According to the Moscow mayor the reason that marches, such as gay pride events, should be outlawed is simple – they are satanic. Luzhkov’s first refusal to allow a gay pride event to occur was back in 2007, with his argument in 2008 being that pride parades had the potential to spread HIV and AIDs.

Whilst Luzhkov may have said the event cannot go ahead activists are still planning to hold their gay pride even though last year dozens were arrested after they took part in unofficial pride events in the city.
