Lesbian Couples Can Now Reproduce Without Men (Just As Long As You’re A Mouse Or Chicken)

Every lesbian couple wanting children has had the conversation about how much easier it would be if we could just reproduce amongst ourselves instead of trying to work out how we’re going to add a man into the equation.

Well good news, Japanese scientists have worked out how females can reproduce without having to have their eggs, which contain two sets of chromosomes from each female, fertilised. Occurring via a process called parthenogenesis, which normally doesn’t occur in mammals,  the end result was two new very cute female babies…. of the mouse variety.

Yes that’s the slight downside. They haven’t quite worked it out for humans yet (although this breakthrough was made in 2004 so they’ve had plenty of time…). If you are however a lesbian insect, chicken or mouse then the world has just got a whole lot better for you…
