Kansas City Chiefs Player Suspended For Homophobic Comments On Twitter

Kansas City Chiefs player, Larry Johnson, has been suspended from his team after allegedly making homophobic comments on the social networking site, Twitter.

Occurring when one of Johnson’s followers questioned him about an incident when he was meant to have spat in the face of a woman in a nightclub, the homophobic comments came in the form of Johnson calling the follower’s photo a “fag pic” and also calling him a “Christopher Street boy”, something which refers to the Pride march route in New York city.

Acting quickly to dampen out the flames, Johnson has now been told by his team to stay away from the training grounds whilst both the Kansas City Chiefs and National Football League investigate. Johnson has seen apologised, issing a statement that he regretted what he had said, and it was down to him being frustrated about his team’s 37-7 loss against the San Diego Chargers, not down to any anti-gay feelings.  He went on to say he realised his behaviour was inexcusable and that he hadn’t ever meant to offend.

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) have responded positively to Larry Johnson making his apology, believing it showed there was no room for homophobia on the pitch, and that hopefully both the NFL and Kansas City Chiefs would use this as way to educate players and fans that anti-gay behaviour would not be accepted.
