Is Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Homophobic Or Has Political Correctness Gone Mad?

The Telegraph has predicted outrage from the GLBT community after it was discovered that Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2, which is produced by Activision, features what they deem to be a homophobic joke.

Appearing as part of the game’s campaign mode, the game sees two US troops have the following conversation:

Troop 1: You ever seen a grown man naked?
Troop 2: (laughs)
Troop 2: Hey man you still gay? I’m kidding. Don’t ask don’t tell.
Troop 1: No ammo, no armour
Troop 2 : Ha ha ha! That’s why I’m a cool-blooded carnivorous warrior bro!

Here at Queeried we can’t say we’re too offended by something that seems to be more of a dig at Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell than homosexuality. In fact we’d say if there’s anything worrying about the whole affair it’s the decision by the Telegraph to run a story that acts to create a situation that doesn’t exist, something which far from acting to help achieve equality and acceptance has the potential to create unnecessary divisions.

Have we got it all wrong? Are you offended by the inclusion of the above conversation in Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2, which has since it’s launch become the biggest selling game of all time in the UK.
