High Strung: An Intense Story Of Unrequited Lesbian Love
Now available to pre-order, Highly Strung is the story of two childhood friends that are reunited when Marie, who is moving to Lyon to attend a prestigious academy to study piano, moves into Emma’s apartment.
To begin with the two appear just friends with Emma, a medical student, doing all she can to bring Marie out of her sheltered shell. Soon though it becomes obvious Emma has done far too good as job as this sexually innocent girl starts to become interested in the boys showing her attention, something that is much to the disgust of her flatmate. Leading to Emma ruling that neither girl should bring anyone back to the flat in case the other does not like them, Marie soon breaks the rule leading to Emma’s obsessive feelings to surface.
Following yet another argument about Marie and boys, Emma finally makes her feelings know, kissing Marie. Whilst at first uncomfortable, Marie soon finds herself succumbing to Emma’s charms. It isn’t however to last as Marie soon find her study is suffering and moves out.
The time apart isn’t to last long though, with Marie soon moving back in, but this time not alone, but with on/off boyfriend Sami. Even then though Emma isn’t however willing to give up the fight, and Marie is definitely no longer the sheltered child she once was by her teasing actions that do nothing to stem Emma’s obsession.
Combining love, lust, jealous and envy with a beautiful classical soundtrack of Mozart, Ravel, Bach and Chopin this film is a gorgeous example of French cinema and definitely worth a pre-order if you’re after an intense bit of drama to unwind with.
High Strung can be pre-ordered for general release on March 29th 2010 from Amazon.
