Fed up with there being no magazine for the gay community that isn’t written with Graham Norton clones in mind? Brown Tiger Publishing is here to save the day with a brand new bi-annual magazine, OUT THERE.

Targeted at the professional. affluent and discerning man, this international magazine has been in the making for nearly a year, and has become a real labour of love for those behind it who have worked tirelessly to ensure that they have on the very best in international, cutting-edge contributors to produce editorial and creative for it.

The first addition entitled “Issue One: The Freedom Issue” gets OUT THERE off with a bang celebrating all aspects of homo-culture, and brings you not only the best of now, but also who you can expect to become hot stuff very very soon. Told via stunning editorial and just as impressive photography these are definitely features you’re going to want to read time and time again.

Taking you from Sao Paolo to Singapore, the 200-page inaugural issue not only does an impressive job of reflecting the immense talent and creative of the gay community, but also explores more social issues like how our freedom was won and how in some parts of the world, there is still so much to do.

Featuring veterans of New York’s Stonewall uprising as well as international activist Peter Tatchell, who speaks about about his experiences of the early days of the UK’s gay liberation front, OUT THERE also takes a closer look, alongside IGLHRC, on the religious bigots who are exporting homophobia to Africa and beyond.

And it doesn’t just end culture and activism. NYC gay royalty Earl Dax is also there to guide you through Brooklyn’s alternative cabaret scene, as part of their 50 page New York travel focus, whilst young and rising star
photographers Markus Bollingmo and Eiki Mori explore Paris and Japan.

The arts also insn’t forgotten as both Michael Fassbender and OUT THERE’s cover star Alan Cumming spell the beans.

Speaking about what he wanted for OUT THERE Martin Perry, Creative and Editorial Director said:

“My vision for OUT THERE is to inform and entertain in equal parts. What sets us apart from everyone else is thatour content is developed by people who have something passionate to say about the places and things they love and their experiences of being ‘out there’. And it’s more than just the written word, we strongly believe that experiences are mainly visual – and you’ll find that our stories are illustrated with stunning, original, commissioned and curated photography and expressive forms to bring them to life. OUT THERE readers are not looking for a magazine that dictates to them what they want – they form their own opinions, what we do is provide them with inspiration that affirms their life choices”,

Perry has definitely set himself a tough challenge with OUT THERE, but from what we’ve heard about this new magazine / journal it sounds like if anyone can make it a success it’s him … and if pre launch registrations and subscriptions are anything to go by, it sounds like it already is!

Out There is now on-sale in London at Prowler Soho, DV8 Soho, KK Outlet Hoxton, ZDonlon Books Broadway
Market and online subscription at www.outtheremagazine.com.

The gay lifestyle magazine Attitude has been dropped by major magazine distributor WH Smith who have announced that they will no longer be stocking it on their shelves.

Published monthly, and currently running a series of interviews with the top UK political leaders on gay rights issues in the lead up to the election, the magazine will however still be available from other retailers, with a statement released earlier today saying:

“Attitude will no longer be available in WHSmith on your High St. You will still be able to get your favourite read at Tesco, Sainsbury’s, WHSmith Travel outlets , Waitrose, Asda, MMRG (Martins), Morrisons, the Co-Operative and all good independent retail newsagents, who have all demonstrated great support to attitude magazine by expanding the number of outlets attitude is now available in.”

Having gained some incredible interviews over it’s 15 years, including the first with a serving Prime Minister when Tony Blair was in power, Heath Ledger’s only interview with the gay press and Robbie Williams’ when he left Take That, the decision by WH Smith seems like a strange one, indicating there’s more to it than Trojan Publishing have made out with their statement….

Zero, the leading gay and lesbian magazine in Spain, will close after the 120th edition hits the shelves after the publishers saw advertising income fall by 60%.

The editor of the magazine, Miguel Ángel López, has spent the last few months trying to raise funding to keep the magazine going, but has had to give in to the inevitable after the business officially filed for bankruptcy on the 6th of November 2009.

Once a magazine which features some of the biggest celebrities and names in Spain, including the Mayor of Madrid, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón and the Prime Minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, many will be sad to hear Zero’s 12 year run has come to the end with no visible contender in place.
