Discover How k.d Lang Has Managed To Avoid Homophobia In The Music World

In speaking to Blacktown Advocate about her 25 years in the music business, k.d Lang says she believes she has been able to avoid negative publicity because of two main reasons. The first is being confident about who you are. The second, and perhaps to k.d Lang the most important one – you stop giving a damn about what everyone else thinks.

Believing that a lot of the reaction to people comes from the way you act with them, Lang said “I think it’s really about the synergy between you and the rest of the world. It has a lot to do with the energy you put out and how comfortable you are with your sexuality.”

And added that:

“I’ve never really felt that much animosity towards my sexuality. Of course there are people who are completely ignorant about the culture and what it is to be gay but, to me, that’s always been kind of a fuel”

Celebrating a quarter of a decade in the music world that has seen her win 4 Grammy Awards and record 12 albums, k.d. lang will be releasing her first career retrospective, Recollection, on the February 9, which can be pre-ordered now on Amazon.
